July Empties

Sunday, 2 August 2015

Um where the hell did July go? Seeing July through is always an exciting one for me as birthday is at the beginning of August which mostly means new makeup! Last months empties were mostly the everyday essentials, how often do us beauty junkies actually finish a makeup product?!

Lets begin with a new favourite, Kèrastase Cristalliste Lait Luminous Perfecting Conditioner. This was actually a decent sized sample from My Little Box, I hadn't really heard of this conditioner before so it sat in my bathroom for a while but once I had tried it and saw what it did to my hair I was hooked! This conditioner is designed to be used on the mid lengths and ends of long hair, it helps detangle and leave your hair feeling light yet nourished. I have gone on to purchase the full size product as my hair can't be without it now!

Nivea In Shower Moisturiser is a product that I really love the concept of more than the product itself. I initially bought this moisturiser in the winter to save me having to stand cold and wet in the bathroom applying moisturiser after my shower, it didn't provide enough moisture for my dry skin at that point so I thought I'd put it aside for the warmer weather, alas even though I wear lighter moisturising lotions at this time of the year it still does not provide any decent level of moisture to my skin. This is one I shan't be repurchasing.

Aussie Miracle Shine Shampoo has been my go-to shampoo for the last few years, it leaves my hair glossy and smelling great. I use a couple of different conditioners throughout the week but my hair washing routine will always start with this product and I always have a couple of spare bottle in my bathroom cabinet.

Unfortunately Maybelline Baby Lips  are another product that I love the idea of more than the product. Sure they're affordable and they come in a wide variety of shades and designs but they just don't moisturise my lips! Lip balm is one of those products I rarely like to skimp on as you can really notice the difference to the moisture levels in your lips and you then have to spend a week getting rid of flakiness and rehydrate them. This is another product I won't be repurchasing.

From a bad lip balm to a great one with Clarins HydraQuench Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm. This is only a tiny 3ml sample but you need so little of the product it lasted and lasted, I applied before bed and my lips were always soft and smooth by morning meaning I need not worry about prepping for any type of lipstick, even matte shades. This is one i will be purchasing in the near future.

Soap and Glory Scrub Of Your Life was from a Christmas gift set, I have a regular favourite body exfoliator but I thought I'd give this a shot. I haven't used a Soap and Glory exfoliator in a couple of years, I used to love Breakfast scrub, not only did it smell divine but it did an amazing job of leaving your skin glowing, unfortunately Scrub of Your Life doesn't compare, it's more like a shower gel with a few exfoliating beads in it.

I'm on about my third of fourth jar of Benefit's It's Potent eye cream, I love everything from the cute packaging down to the sparkle it gives back to my eye area. This will be a regular repurchase.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream is a product I've heard so many people rave about, I've been using it for a couple of months and have to admit can't really see any visible improvement to my skin. I dispensed the contents of the jar in to a pump bottle (germ phobe!) and I still have a couple of weeks worth yet, I'm on the fence about repurchasing.

My Clinique Chubby Stick Collection & Swatches

Saturday, 16 May 2015

I'm not sure why I've not done a post on my Clinique Chubby Stick collection before, they are one of the most used lip products in my collection and were what sparked my chubby stick obsession all those years ago. I've done a swatch of each shade, you can instantly pick out which ones are the original moisturizing formula and which are the intense versions. So lets run through the shades I have in my stash-

From top left -
08 Grandest Grape (intense)
07 Super Strawberry
06 Roomiest Rose (intense)
17 Plumped Up Pink
06 Woppin' Watermelon
11 Two Ton Tomato
04 Mega Melon
01 Curviest Caramel

Although the intense versions offer more of a punch of colour to your lips they don't skip on the moisture levels delivered by the original moisturizing version. I love everything about these lipbalm come lipsticks, the packing has a real luxe feel, the formula's don't disappoint and I feel you really get your money's worth with the amount of product.

Do you own any of Clinique's Chubby Sticks, what are your thoughts?

No7 BB Lips Beauty Balm - Blush Coral & Blink Pink

Friday, 27 February 2015

I must admit when I first heard there was another BB product being released I just thought it was going to be another product that makes a thousand promises and just doesn't deliver but I have to admit I was wrong where these two are concerned!

No7 BB Lips  rrp £9 are an all-in-one lip balm that provides UV protection of SPF 15, soothing nourishment and topped off with a sheer wash of colour. My biggest concern with them being described as 'a similar finish to lip gloss' was that they were going to be just that, a sticky lip gloss type formula. I was pleasantly surprised to find they are more in fact a balmy formula with a glossy sheen to them.

BB lips have been a gorgeous alternative to your conventional lip balm over the winter and as I try to keep my makeup quite simple for work they have given me a lovely fresh finish for my lips. My favourite of the two has to be Blush Coral as it's a gorgeous wash of peach however Blink Pink is a lovely pale pink shade that really compliments my natural lip colour.

Have you tried BB Lips? What are your thoughts?

Trial-Sized Tuesday's - Clarins HydraQuench Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm

Wednesday, 19 November 2014

My quest of trying to utilise my drawer of samples and trial sized products continues with Clarins HydraQuench Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm rrp £19 for 15ml.

I'm relatively new to Clarins products but can hand on heart say I've enjoyed using every product I have purchased so far and with Clarins offering 3 free samples with every online order it gives you an excellent opportunity to try more from their ranges. A couple of orders ago I selected this lip balm as one of my samples and with the cold weather here I thought it a perfect opportunity to give it a try.

HydraQuench Lip Balm has a very thick texture, think Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream, only it melts on to your lips not only healing chapped lips but preventing moisture loss. This intensive balm is infused with Rose Wax and Shea Butter and it has a delicate pink tint to it which leaves lips looking lovely.

I've found with all of the lipstick wearing I've been doing lately my lips haven't so much become chapped but they are definitely a little dry and tight and applying this balm last thing at night has restored my lips come morning. I've had the 3ml sample of the go for around a week now and it's showing no signs of running out as you need so little, I definitely will be purchasing the full size product when the sample is done!

Balmi Lip Balm

Monday, 2 June 2014

Last week whilst looking for a new lip balm I stumbled across Balmi, a kitsch little Manchester based company creating balms for people on the move. Whilst I love my trusty little tin of multi-functioning Vaseline I really wanted something of quite a generous size that would avoid me having to stick my fingers in it.

I was instantly drawn to Balmi Cube Lip Balm because of the gorgeous mint colour. As you might have guessed this one is mint flavoured, it's a very cooling mint sensation, perfect for these warmer months.

Balmi lip balm's have an SPF15 and UVA protection as well as a perfect blend of natural ingredients including Vitamin E, Jojoba Oil and Shea Butter making them perfect for even the most sensitive lips.

Balmi Cube's are also available in Raspberry, Strawberry and Coconut...and at only £4.99 each I think I'm going to collect them all!

May Favourites

Sunday, 1 June 2014

I really wanted to keep my May Favourite's list to a bare minimum, I didn't want to be all like 'Look how much I've bought this month!' and just share with you the products I've used everyday without fail and not just list every beauty product I have bought (and there was a lot!). I've kinda gone back to basics this month, concentrating more on skincare and maintenance, here's some of my favourite purchases...

First up is MAC's Angel lipstick rrp £15 from Cohorted, I did a post about a week ago on this gorgeous lipstick, I've worn it pretty much everyday as it's the perfect subtle pink for daytime looks.

Next up we have L'Occitane Immortelle Divine Lotion rrp £42, I discovered this wonderful product through Latest In Beauty with their British Beauty Blogger beauty box collaboration. When I saw the Divine Lotion listed in the box contents I just thought t was going to be some naff body lotion...how wrong was I?! Divine Lotion helps cellular renewal giving you a more radiant, younger looking complexion. I've been applying this lotion after cleansing and toning but before my serum/night cream and my skin feels so soft and it really does leave your face glowing. I will definitely be purchasing the full-size product when my sample runs out.

Toni and Guy's  Prep Heat Protection Spray rrp £6.39 is one of the best heat protection products I've ever used. It protects my hair without leaving any sticky or greasy residue as some other products do and the scent is a really clean, refreshing smell. It doesn't dry my hair out or make it stiff, instead it aids the blowdrying and straightening process leaving me with shinier hair. This has definitely become one of my haircare staples.

Balmi Mint Cube Lip Balm rrp £4.99 has become my current favourite lip balm. It comes in cool, convenient packaging and the formula is lovely. The main reason I went for Balmi was that I was looking for an un-tinted, conditioning balm for work that meant I didn't need to stick my fingers in the product (germ-a-phobe!). I have used the little Vaseline tin's for years and love them as they are multi functioning and last forever but after a recent bought of illness I just got really paranoid about spreading germs! Balmi is a great balm, the packaging is kitsch and the formula has a rich blend of natural ingredients including Jojoba Oil and Shea Butter so it leaves your lips really conditioned. On top of that it has SPF15 and UVA protection so it's perfect for outdoorsy types!
