NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream | Stockholm | RRP £6.50

NYX is a brand I haven't tried very much of, mostly because they seem to be utterly hopeless at restocking their website so the few products I do own from them I have come across merely by chance. 

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream's are a pout paint that glide on and set to a matte finish. What I love about this particular matte lip product is that despite having a durable finish it's not at all drying and wears off evenly. Stockholm is a gorgeous nude shade that is just perfect for any daytime look.

Born Pretty Store Matte Lipsticks

A few weeks ago I was approached by the lovely Alicia from Born Pretty Store the one-stop shop for beauty and accessory shopping and was asked to review some of their products on my blog. After having a browse through the hundreds of items on their website I settled on trying some of their Matte Lipsticks and pictured are the shades I received 07 a punchy tomato red and 08 a zingy coral.

The first thing I noticed when I pulled them out of the packaging was the striking resemblance to Topshop's lipsticks, everything from the mint coloured sleek metal housing of the lipstick itself to the cute little cardboard box. A clear rip-off of Topshop's make-up line, but with so many affordable brands copying Premium brands who cares when you're getting just as good quality make-up for a fraction of the price?

I would say the finish of these lipsticks is more of a creamy satin finish than matte, which means the formula isn't drying on your lips at all. Of the two I prefer 07 the tomato red, my pale skin can't really pull of such a bright coral at the moment, but I imagine it will look great with a tan in the spring/summer.

Makeup Revolution Lipstick In Enchant

After reading so much hype on Makeup Revolution's products on lots of blogs I decided to place a small order last week to get a feel for the products for myself. 

I purchased the Iconic 3 palette (review here) and 3 lipsticks, Vice, Divine and Enchant. The palette is incredible value for money, the eye-shadow's are richly pigmented and last all day and the palette itself is a lot better than I was expecting. 

My favorite out of the 3 lipstick's is Enchant, its a gorgeous lilac toned lipstick with a reasonable longevity for the price of around 2-3 hours. Divine is a peachy-pink matte shade which isn't at all drying and lasts around 3 hours. Vice was not at all what I was expecting, it turned out to be actually quite a sheer orange lipstick, against my natural lip colour it made my lips look blue and spaghetti stained...that one went in the bin.

For only £1 I am still intrigued to try more of the range but I think I will wait until they are stocked in my local Superdrug or Boots to test them first.

MAC Matte Lipstick in Russian Red

I just had to share the gorgeous bargain that came in the post this morning from Cohorted.  When I saw that MAC's Matte lipstick in Russian Red was featuring in this week's cohort I just knew it had to be mine and at the bargainous price of £10.50 I'm over the moon!

I'm a sucker for a red lippy and well MAC products in general really! This shade is a glamourous, classic red and would look fabulous on most skin tones. Although it is a matte lipstick I didn't find it at all drying on my lips as most matte lipsticks are. The pigment in this lipstick is amazing and you don't need to ply loads of it on to get the desired effect.

The cohort is now closed but I would recommend anyone looking for a staple red lippy to try this one!
